The White Rodgers 1F92W-71 is a premium universal multi-stage heat pump digital 5/2 day programmable thermostat with wireless remote sensor for multi-stage heat pump systems, including up to 3-stage heat/2-stage cool with aux/emergency heat, automatic/manual changeover. It features independent heating/cooling programs with 4 time/temperature settings per day, Computed Energy Management Recovery (EMR), battery backup with 3 AA batteries, and wireless sensor up to 200 ft range. Powered by 24 VAC (requires hot and common); compatible with systems up to 1.5A total load. Below are the key specifications, installation, operation, programming, and troubleshooting instructions.
Assemble tools: hand or power drill with 3/16 inch drill bit (if needed), flat blade screwdriver, wire cutter/stripper, level, voltmeter. Shut off electricity at main fuse box until installation complete. Label wires before disconnecting. This thermostat is for 24V systems only; requires both hot and common. Install about 5 ft. above floor on inside wall, away from drafts, direct sunlight, heat sources, windows, doors, registers, poor circulation areas. For sensor: similar location, up to 200 ft from thermostat.
WARNING! Failure to read and follow all instructions carefully before installing or operating this control could cause personal injury and/or property damage. Save these instructions.
Wall-mounted, low voltage thermostat for precise multi-stage heat pump control with wireless sensor. Microcomputer-based with 5+2 day programming, 4 periods/day, independent heat/cool programs. Features LCD display alternating time/room temp (local/remote/average), up/down arrows, SYSTEM switch (HEAT/OFF/COOL/AUTO/EMER), FAN switch (ON/AUTO), PRGM switch, option switches for changeover/EMR/lockout. Terminals: G (fan), C (common), R (hot), O (cool changeover), B (heat changeover), Y1/Y2 (compressor stages), W1/W2/W3 (aux heat stages). Includes wireless remote indoor sensor (F145W-01) for up to 200 ft range. Supports multi-stage heat pumps with/without aux/emergency heat.
Applications: Multi-Stage Heat Pump: Yes (up to 3H/2C); Conventional Multi-Stage: Yes; Heat Only: Yes; Cool Only: Yes; Gas/Oil/Electric/Hydronic: Yes; Millivolt: No.
CAUTION! To prevent electrical shock/equipment damage, disconnect power at main fuse/circuit breaker until installation complete. Label wires prior to disconnection.
WARNING! Do not use on circuits exceeding 30 VAC 50/60 Hz (1.5A max total); higher voltage damages control/causes shock/fire. Do not short terminals on gas valve/primary control to test; short/incorrect wiring burns out components/causes injury/property damage. Conform to NEC Class II circuits. Do not operate cooling below 50°F (compressor damage).
ATTENTION! This product does not contain mercury but may replace one that does. Do not open mercury cells; if damaged, wear non-absorbent gloves, clean up spilled mercury, place in sealed container. Refer to www.thermostat-recycle.org for disposal.
Shut off electricity, verify with voltmeter. Remove cover, wall plate. Label wires with terminal designations (use provided labels for G,C,R,O,B,Y1,Y2,W1,W2,W3). Disconnect one at a time; pull 6 inches out; do not let fall into wall.
Program with batteries before mounting. Pull wires through subbase, connect to terminals. Place subbase over hole, mark/drill/fasten with screws (level). Push excess wire in, seal with fire-resistant material. Attach thermostat by aligning and snapping.
Batteries: Install 3 AA alkaline; low battery indicator flashes.
Terminal Designations: G (fan), C (common), R (24V hot), O (cool changeover), B (heat changeover), Y1 (stage 1 compressor), Y2 (stage 2 compressor), W1 (stage 1 aux heat), W2 (stage 2 aux heat), W3 (stage 3 aux heat).
Multi-Stage Heat Pump: R to hot, C to common, G to fan, Y1/Y2 to compressor stages, O/B to changeover (O for cool, B for heat), W1/W2/W3 to aux/emergency heat stages.
CAUTION! Requires R and C connected. Refer to equipment manuals for specifics. Tighten terminals securely.
Mount sensor 5 ft above floor, interior wall. Insert 2 AA batteries. Press/hold sync button until LED flashes. On thermostat, enter config to pair (select remote). Signal bars on display.
Restore power. Set to manual changeover for testing. Verify sensor signal. Override 5-min compressor lockout by holding PRGM + TEMP at startup if needed.
CAUTION! Do not operate below 50°F.
5+2 day; 4 periods (MOR/DAY/EVE/NHT). Independent heat/cool programs. Factory preprogrammed; program with batteries installed.
Factory Heat: MOR 6AM 70°F, DAY 8AM 62°F, EVE 6PM 70°F, NHT 10PM 62°F. Cool: MOR 6AM 78°F, DAY 8AM 85°F, EVE 6PM 78°F, NHT 10PM 82°F.
