Preparations

Assemble tools: hand or power drill with 3/16 inch drill bit (if needed), flat blade screwdriver, wire cutter/stripper, level, voltmeter. Shut off power to the heating and cooling system at the main fuse or circuit breaker box until installation complete. Label wires before disconnecting. Verify package contents: Wallplate (A), Thermostat (B), White cover (C), 4 color inserts (D), Clear plastic cover (E), 2 mounting screws and wall anchors (F), Wire Labels, Installation Instructions and User Guide. This thermostat is for low voltage systems only; not for line voltage. Install away from drafts, direct sunlight, or heat sources for accurate sensing.

Precautions

CAUTION! The thermostat may stop controlling temperature and your house may freeze or overheat when batteries are too low. Batteries must be changed when "BATT" appears on the display.

Mercury and products containing mercury must not be discarded in household trash. Do not touch any spilled mercury. Installation

Remove old thermostat: Turn off power, expose wires, label wires (RH, RC, W, Y, G, O/B), disconnect wires, remove base. Install new wallplate: Mark holes, drill/anchor, secure wallplate, connect wires to terminals (R to R, W to W, Y to Y, G to G, O/B to O/B). Install 2 AA batteries, snap thermostat to wallplate. Restore power.

Note: If old thermostat had jumper between RH and RC, connect R wire to R terminal. For heat pumps, O/B wiring depends on heat/cool active.

Check Operation

Power on. Set SYSTEM to HEAT, FAN to AUTO, adjust setpoint 3°F above room temp; heat should activate. Lower to 3°F below; heat stops. Repeat for COOL. For fan: FAN to ON, fan runs; FAN to AUTO, fan stops.
